Assignment 9: Dylan Ruddy

The should never be a time for war, even though there are sometimes it is easier to go to war than to settle issues with diplomatic relations. War is an easy way for large and powerful nations to impose their will on another smaller country. They gain support for their argument by saying that they are fighting oppression, or it is for the good of the citizens of another country even though this information is not back up by anything it is able to anger their subjects into fighting. War is so much easier than diplomatic relations because things can be hidden in the chaos. Alterior motives are concealed and the killing of people can be considered collateral damage.
While it may sound like it, I do not think a country should not go to war. I believe that a should not start a war, but if joining an already existing war can end it quicker and lower the death toll then they should. This is most clearly shown in WWII with the USA's hesitance to enter the war until Pearl Harbor. However when the US joined the war, they were able to end it relatively quickly, or at least quicker than it would have ended otherwise.
