Assignment 9: Connor Haney

In most previous circumstances, war is definitely necessary. In my opinion, it should be the very last line of defense, but it should be used if need be. History has shown us that war, in extreme situations, war was not only necessary, but it was inevitable. For instance, the Revolutionary War was both necessary for American freedom, as well as inevitable with the constant rising tensions between the Tories and the patriots. Also, in the time leading up to the Civil War, the continuous conflicts between people from the north and people of the south, and abolitionists and slave owners became the gateway for the inevitability of the Civil War. What made it necessary was the ideal of no slavery around the United States. There are definitely certain times where countries need to go to war, such as when the protection of the nation as a whole is at risk. However, there normally could be better alternatives to war. Like said previously, war should only be incorporated as a last resort. Also, you should not go to war unless your country's safety is directly effected.
