Assignment 14: Naylan James

Every year for thanksgiving we go to my cousin's house, with my grandmother, and my aunt and uncle from Alabama. We basically do the same thing every time: eat turkey, watch the Cowboys, and go home. Last year, however, we did something different. Last year we decided to go to a church somewhere near downtown and feed the homeless people. This seems like the normal middle class family going to "give-back." But what made this experience stand out, besides being able to feed 90+ homeless people, was the fight. There were two men at the table I was waiting, and for some reason they decided to fight. They randomly start yelling at each other and cursing and I'm absolutely horrified. I had no clue what to do but nobody else really noticed because of all the noise in the giant room. Luckily nothing came out of it other than some shoves and mean names. But this experience has definitely stood out among all my previous normal thanksgivings. And even with this fight, I'll appreciate the experience of serving the others forever.
