Assignment 9- Caroline Couch

There are times for war, now getting bit on the playground and having the teacher tell you that "violence is never the answer" is no time but the events of 911 did in fact call for war. How ca NGOs be told that violence is never the answer when 2,996 people were killed and more than 6,000 were injured. This is not including the countless lives that will be forever changed because of these acts. How can you say that violence isn't the answer for this? You can't, this was a necessary act of war. However in today's society war is the common answer for most Americans, we can not engage in every war over every little skirmish that we get ourselves into. We need to understand that war isn't always the best option and that there are other options such as communicating with the other party and working out their differences. Though world peace is highly unlikely in our current world, we should aim to use war as a last resort.
