Chelsea Avery Assignment 14

To be completely honest, Thanksgivings in the Avery family have slowly gone to pieces. With half of my family living in Japan, the family gathering potential of the holiday is limited. So then we look to the Lithuanian side, what is wrong here? Why nothing really, except for the fact that two of my three uncles are very strange and never married or had kids. Leaving me with only two cousins on this side of the family. One cousin I get along with quite well, she is close to my age and even though we only see each other at Thanksgiving and Christmas, it is nice that she makes an effort. Her brother is currently in middle school and is going through a scene phase. I can respect it, I had a brief moment myself where I painted my fingernails black and listened to punk rock bands. This past Thanksgiving, I don't think he even murmured one word.
The food presented is generally traditional, sometimes my mom likes to get a little experimental and makes something obscure like stuffed mushrooms but nothing too drastic. The only Avery tradition would be Kuglea, a Lithuanian must. A strange potato dish, it is truly great and takes the place of mashed potatoes at our house. We only make it on the holidays as it requires grating some 10lbs of potatoes and my grandpa is the only one who actually knows how to make it turn out right.
