War never has, nor
never will be morally correct. It is an inevitable evil that I am
certain will persist through history. Most wars have a side that is
the “better” side, but the winners still have to kill their way
to victory. No matter the problem, the mass killing of people on each
side is completely wrong.
My grandfather, a Vietnam veteran, never has told me what war is really like. He only says, “Battle is the worst thing a human being can experience, and I hope you never have to.”
He told me this when I was really young, probably 8 or 9 years old. This is usually what sticks in my mind any time I hear the word war because it was such a serious thing for me to hear at such a young age. That’s what made me believe war was wrong, and that all things can be settled without violence, but not everyone else in the world views war like I do.
