Assignment 15 - Christian Lauritzen

Assignment 6 was the one I didn't do, so I'll just make up a prompt for this:

If you could change how school worked, what would you do?

I would start by trying to get students to have more say in what happens.  I can't help but feel like administrators are missing vital feedback in what does and doesn't work when it comes to the school system.  This would make sure the people at the upper levels understand things we as students may find troublesome or useful.  Next, I would try to eliminate homework to some degree.  I understand this may be unreasonable, but the amount of homework some students have has quite literally induced mental illness and trauma.  I wouldn't necessarily eliminate homework entirely, but perhaps require any nightly practice be optional, so that those who need it have it, and those who don't are find.  Finally, I would make it so that people who are invested in learning can drop out early and get into the work force.  This may seem cruel, but ultimately, what is the point in wasting school funds to try to educate kids who will never leave school with anything having been learned.  It would be much better for them to get involved with working and not be punished for it.  Some say this may add to at-risk children being on the street, but you could just wait until they are legally able to work and improve public transportation, perhaps requiring they are employed for a certain amount of time until they reach 18, giving certain options, and making them go back to school if unable to find a job.
