Assignment 3: Dylan Ruddy

I feel that good an evil both must exist so that they can be compared with one another. If everyone was good, there would still be evil but it would just be considered doing less good than everyone else. The same can be said about evil. Hopefully this is making some sense, it is just a little difficult for me to articulate it easily. Therefore there is not good or evil and there has to be some grey area. For example if you get your wallet stollen then you think the person that took it is evil. But if you are the person who took it to feed your children you would think of it as a necessary evil and therefor not necessarily doing the right thing but also not doing the wrong thing, which brings us to the often overused doing the wrong thing for the right reason. For example in Zootopia Mayor Lionheart locks up all of the effected animals so that the city won't go into turmoil. Was it the right thing to hide the truth, probably not. But did he prevent the disorder seen later in the film for a little while, yes.
This brings us to definitions.
Good: Doing anything to help another person even if it means sacrificing something that is important to you. (Pride, Time, Money)
Bad: Doing something to help yourself even if it means hurting something someone else feels is important. (Pride, Time, Money)
