Assignment 3- Ben Lambert
Personally, I do not think that good and evil exist in pure forms. That which is portrayed in Harry Potter is not as simple in real life. Good and evil, in reality, do not independently exist. One can only exist if the same is true for the other; without their being a "bad" choice for something, their cannot be a "good" one. If it had not been considered "bad" for the girl to keep the wallet and pocket the money, no one would have thought it "good" to return it to the rightful owner. And nobody is good at all times; at some point, innate greed and vanity must come into play in the actions of a person. While a philanthropist might be considered good for donating money and resources to the poor, he is not purely good until he has given everything he owns for the benefit of others. As for evil, everyone has a conscious that influences a decision at any moment. The elimination of one is impossible unless in a fictional utopic society.
