Assignment 7 Philip Allison

On September 28 in 1781 the Battle of Yorktown begun. This battle, in the Revolutionary War between he British and the American colonies, ended the war and won the United States its independence. George Washington led 17,000 French and Continental troops against General Cornwallis and 9,000 British troops in Virginia. Washington ordered Marquis de Lafayette and 5,000 American troops to block escape from Yorktown and a French naval fleet blocked escape by sea. This event was definitely because the victory forced the British to give America its freedom and independence as a nation. This influenced the world because it led worldwide countries as well as the British know that we will fight for what we think is right as a country. It influenced the nation and the state by freeing the country from British rule and tyranny. If this battle had not started and we had not won, we all might be British citizens under British rule of the Queen of England and British Parliament. I also appreciate this event because it effectively won the war and saved many more lives from being lost.
