This posture encompasses the excitement of everyone to hear that they had won the war and also just to know that the war was over. This picture is of a sailor and a nurse celebrating their excitement for the war to coming to an end. This encompassed a moment of pure relief The photo, caught the U.S. in a time of joy and represented people letting go of their inhibitions. An examination of that day in 1945 reveals how people celebrated. The people in the background of this photo were just as excited as the main two. It was a day filled with emotion and excitement. In the time I have been alive I have never experienced a world war and I hope to never to. With the stories told to me by my grand parents I realized how horrific and scary the time was. This photo was thought of as sexual assault but has recently been rebuked the woman in the photo said that it encompassed their excitement and the kiss was what we would say "in the heat of the moment."
