Assignment 23- Quinn Andrews
When I feel stressed, I like to stretch to reduce muscle tension. When doing this, I listen to this playlist, it's the perfect length so I finish stretching by the time it's finished.
7 Years Old by Lukas Graham- This song is great because it's not too fast and is easy to count to. I use it as my starting song to warm up my arms, neck, and shoulders (I get a lot of tension and strain in my shoulders from archery, so I have to spend a lot of time there). It also reminds me that there is a future and a lot experiences to gain in the future when I'm stressed and can't see past a big deadline.
Alors On Danse by Stromae- This song is much faster and also in french. Focusing on the words helps take my mind off the discomfort while stretching my feet and ankles. This is primarily done by jumping and bands, so the fast beat makes it go faster.
Tourner Dans Le Vide by Indila-Also fast and in french, I use this song for light cardio and to warm up the muscles in my legs and back. I jump rope or do jumping jacks during this song because it takes my mind completely off my stress. I can either focus on the words and ignore everything or I can tune it out and focus on my breathing.
I See Fire by Ed Sheeran- The slow beat helps me slow down to stretch my legs and back, especially for splits and back bends. I can focus on long stretches rather than fast ones. After the last fast songs this helps me slow down and focus on my thoughts.
How Far I'll Go by Auli'i Cravalho- It's Disney, I know, get over it. I like this song for its message and its a very happy song to end my stretching. It leaves me a last good impression before I get back to whatever I have to do.
I know we were asked not to do workouts, but this one is very important to me as my stretching routines are very different for stress relief and exercise. With finals this week, I've had to use it frequently so I thought I'd share it.
