Assignment 23: Claire Telfer

This playlist is a reflection of the songs I like to listen to at 12:00 am before I go to sleep. It's a compilation of slow and upbeat songs because I enjoy thought provoking lyrics late at night mixed with good instrumental tracks. It starts out with more upbeat songs and eases into slower, more relaxed songs to help ease you into sleep.
1. You and Me- Flume Remix-Disclosure, Eliza Doolittle, Flume. When I listen to songs at night, a remix is always the best to listen to when you can just lie in bed and blare the music in your headphones and not have to think about anything.
2. Hollow Life-Coast Modern. This song adds a good beat to the playlist, and I chose it because it's a song that contrasts with the meaningful lyrics of the songs towards the end of the playlist. This song has a mash of lyrics that are nonsensical, yet they work well together.
3. Life in Technicolor ii-Coldplay. I like this song because it has a long introduction that eases you into the song and it adds more instruments to build to the chorus.
4. Back of the Car-RAC, Nate Hendricks. This song seems quite stupid with its lyrics, but the best songs always are. It's a fun and carefree song that mixes well with the other tracks on this playlist because it has a good beat like the previous three.
5. Electric Love-Borns. This is the original on my 12:00 am playlist because I found it one night on the Alternative Playlist on Apple Music and it's been my favorite song ever since.
6. Dog Days Are Over-Florence and the Machines. Last summer I watched a show that followed college accapella groups, and one soloist sang this song for her mother who had passed away that year. To the girl who sang this song, this song represented that her mother's suffering was over and she was at finally at peace. It made an impact on me, and it made this list because it's a good though provoking song to make you wonder.
7. I Ran Away-Coldplay. This song works well towards the end of the playlist because it relaxes your mind from the more upbeat songs. I chose this song because even though I have listened to Coldplay since I was 8 years old, every once in a while I'll still find random singles they've released over the years. These random songs always turn out to be my favorite.
8. quand c'est?- Stromae. If you haven't ever listened to French music before, I would highly recommend starting with Stromae because his songs go beyond the conventional love stories to create a lasting impact. For example, even though this song is calming in the way he sings, it talks about cancer and its presence in his life and in the world. It's another thought provoking song, but it does well soothe you.
9. Liability-Lorde. I love this song because she describes the importance of being your own fan and learning to love and accept yourself no matter how others perceive you. I put this song at the end of my playlist because it's a good song to feel calm right before you go to sleep.
