I think I was prepared fairly well for the English Language and Composition AP test as well as the english section of the ACT. Your teaching contributed to this, as you are right when you say you teach to the test. Reading many passages, analyzing them, and writing copious amounts of essays had a positive affect on the class as a whole, while I also think the Socratic Seminars were interesting and a good break from writing so much. I do have a problem though: Mr. Behler made us create a big book of many rhetorical devices for us to use in your class. While learning about the rhetorical devices might have helped, I don't think any of your students opened his book once; I have no idea where mine even is. While this isn't necessarily your problem, I do think there is a lack of communication on that particular assignment. It just felt a little pointless to spend so long on that book.
