Assignment 24: Shelby Amato

I was told that junior year would be difficult. I did not understand the complexity and anguish of that difficulty at the time, but it is my constant companion now. I've hated most things about this year and I have yet to see if I'm a better person because of it. At present, it seems I am worse. At everything. The issue of junior year is largely my fault: the classes I signed up for (AP Chem) were awful and the language I chose to take freshman year (Latin) continues to be awful. Extra curriculars demanded much of my effort and I still reaped little reward. I can't point to any learned lesson because I'm still knee deep in the problems. As far as successes, I won some debate tournaments and am co-facilitator of the sustainability council. Both of those were nice. Over summer I'm competing in a few more debate tournaments and doing summer gym but that's about it. Senior year I want to get into good colleges. I have no idea how I'm going to be able to do that but my plan is to work constantly on the essays as soon as summer starts because I'm most worried about those. I also need to fix a lot about my senior schedule. Good riddance to the year.
