Assignment 26: Claire Telfer

The most effective thing about the class this year was writing essays and having it peer reviewed in class. It was an anonymous way to get honest feedback and it helped me grow as a writer throughout the year. I was a bit confused about how to approach writing the essays and it would be helpful if we went over each style of writing prompts and how to write each of them before we did it on our own. Reviewing rhetorical devices at the beginning of the year would also be helpful for answering some multiple choice and on the analysis essay (even though I know basic rhetorical devices are what's most used on the analysis essay). Taking the practice test each month really helped me to check my progress, and it helped me with time management. The year-long projects of visual literacy helped me understand more of the research process and they helped me better my speech-writing skills. The socratic seminars were thought provoking, and they were a good way to discuss and evaluate texts in class. However, it wasn't as helpful to sit on the outer circle because it wasn't as engaging, and we weren't able to contribute to the discussion. You could have the outer circle offer up questions while grading their partners to be more inclusive and allow the outer circle to guide the discussion. Overall, I think that you're conducting your class in an effective manner to help us not only with the AP test, but also with becoming better writers. So keep doing what you're doing, and I hope my suggestion are helpful in your future classes.
