Assignment 26- Taylor Hodges

This class has definitely made me a better writer. The essays that we wrote and reviewed in class were very helpful. It gave me an idea of the amount of time we were given and the grading scale it was on. But grading them during class was excessive because of the amount of time it took. The multiple choice tests we took also helped me prepare for the AP test. It showed me how to read the passages in a good amount of time and that gave me enough time to answer all the questions. Blogs were surprisingly helpful. When we were first doing them, I thought they were stupid, but as the year went on I realized that they allowed me to think outside of the box. In schools today, we aren't able to do that as much. We're taught to a set curriculum and that's all we learn. There's no room to explore. These blogs gave me a break from that set routine.
I don't think the Socratic seminars did a lot for me. It forced people to talk to get a grade, and I'm against that. I'd much rather write an essay over the passage than talk to a group of people. It did help me learn how to analyze a passage and see the underlying message. I also don't see this PSA helpful. I don't really understand why we are doing this or why we're being graded on a video when we are in an English class, not a film class. I'm awful at making videos, so I apologize for how bad mine is going to turn out.
