Assignment 26: Dylan Ruddy

Getting corrections back on my work was helpful for me this year, however I don't feel like reading them as a class was particularly helpful. It was rather time-consuming and not very engaging. This tended to be a problem for me because unless it was my essay, it was very easy for me to zone of being pulled father away by each connection my mind made until I might as well have not been in the room. Now if this was just me then it is my bad and I sorry to people whose essay I did not critic, however I don't think it was. Also speaking in front of the class could be intimidating  and I feel like that may have kept some people from talking. That being  said small groups were more engaging and it was easier to give feedback so maybe start out in small groups next year and slowly work your way up to the whole class. I was also a fan of the dummy essays because it was a way to check our grading and make sure we weren't being to harsh because if one person is being harsh and says their grade and opinion the loudest many people will follow, which doesn't give an accurate score. Getting a grade from the dummy essays was not as helpful because it caused people to try to weed them out so they could grade them more closely.
As far as the visual literacy, I am not sure how that helped with our writing and would have much preferred we work on improving vocal or literary devices so we would be able to easily identify them on the test. I am not trying to be condescending or rude but I know that I like honest feedback  and don't like when people dance around the point to avoid stepping on anyones toes.
