Assignment 22: Claire Telfer

A show that I fell upon freshman year was the ultimate rite of passage for teenage girls: Gossip Girl. Although it wasn't the most intellectually stimulating show, it was a glimpse into the world of the Upper East side in Manhattan. Out of all the characters on the show, I would want to be Serena van der Woodsen because she seemed the least cunning and manipulative. She was sophisticated in how she dressed and where she lived, and even though she was an upper class girl, she wasn't shallow enough to only see people for their money. She was a reformed bad girl, and had attempted to right her wrongs by going to away from the city to work on herself. She was also cultured and spent months abroad when she lived in France with her best friend for the summer. The defining characteristics of her personality were her ability to see the best in people and her willingness to forgive. On top of it all, she was intelligent, and she had her eyes set on the Ivy League.
