Assignment 21: Shelby Amato

At this very moment, somewhere in the universe dew collects on an expanse of uncut grass. A cold breeze rustles the tall fields and the pale yellow morning light  begins to dawn on a new day in an endless string of days. The grass is chilled by wet and cold. Small insects move slowly among the tips of green. The dirt is warm and soft, but dry. The morning is quiet: the chirping of birds is distant, the breeze is soft, there are no people, there are no machines, and the world feels still. The morning is pale: the grass is a light green, the sky is a light yellow, the dirt is a light brown, the dew is clear, and the world feels timeless. The land is so flat that the grass is an ocean, the horizon is the edge of the earth, the sky is the universe. Though the darkness has been ushered away, the cold has stiffened nature and it has yet to wake up.
