Assignment 20: Claire Telfer

How to straighten thick, wavy hair:
I usually don't do much with my hair because I'd rather sleep than take the time to straighten my hair in the morning. With that being said, when I choose to take the time to straighten my hair, I want it to look good. As a person blessed (and cursed) with annoyingly thick hair, I would like to help others with my skill.
1. The night before you want to straighten your hair, take a shower using sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. It makes your hair soft and it smells really good.
2. Towel dry your hair and let it air-dry for about an hour before you go to bed. Once you're ready to fall asleep, braid to avoid frizziness when you wake up in the morning.
3. The next morning, undo your braid and head in to the bathroom to plug in your straightener.
4. Get some argan oil to use in your hair before and after you straighten. Before, add about a nickel sized amount throughout your hair. This acts as a heat protectant and gives your hair some shine.
5. After applying the argan oil, section off your hair so you can get all the hard to reach places. I start with the bottom and put the rest of my hair in a bun.
6. To maximize efficacy, straighten small sections of hair several times to make sure your hair is straight. Go through each section of hair with the same care until you're finished.
7. After straightening your hair, which usually takes me about 45 minutes, apply a small amount of argan oil throughout your hair to give a final touch of shine and good smell.
8. Go live your life with your perfectly straight hair and feel yourself today.
