Assignment 17- Usha Adhikari

The movie/musical La La Land is “one for the books” as critics all around have claimed. As for myself, I was very excited to go see this movie. It started with a song, very upbeat. As the movie continued, the plot seemed like it took forever to develop, with each song straining the time. The middle of movie seemed to go by too quickly. By the end of the movie, the main tunes were overplayed and the movie just seemed to drain on. Although the music and dancing were all good, the plot of the movie fell far below. Maybe I’m not a fan of musicals, but this movie just didn’t seem to live up to the expectations I had for it. Many people loved the movie, and I still recommend watching the movie for the song and dance aspects but as far as the plot is concerned, this movie was “Eh.”
