Like Sandman, most criminals today aren't bad people, they're just in a place in their lives that they need help or guidance for. For some people, being brought up in an unstable home with a single parent can negatively effect them for the rest of their lives. It can shape them into a person that is unsure of their identity and in turn cause them to do bad things. It all matters where you come from and how experiences have shaped your life.
As long as we're human, good and evil will exist. In the news, newscasters mostly comment on wars, politics, and tragedies that shape our nation and the world. However, once in a while, they will show heartwarming stories about children being given new hope or about people rescuing animals from precarious situations. Evil will always exist, but so will the good in the world. Evil can be anything against the law or social norm and traditional views. Good is something we perceive as beneficial to our society like Leah Kleppinger who was honest and did the right thing. Mostly, the line between good and evil is purely subjective. In the example of terrorism, radical Muslims believe they're fighting a holy war against the evil of the Western world. However, in America, it's senseless killing that is attempting to destroy civilization and humanity.
Evil and good coexist in a world that is human and is made up of people who make mistakes. No one is entirely one or the other; good people can do bad things too.
